How did you meet this horse?
I got to know Bláskjár in 2016 on the sunny island of Rügen. He and I enjoyed a wonderful ride there together. When his former owner asked me if I could find a very good new home for him, she wanted to reduce the number of her horses, I gladly said yes.
So he came into our sales stable and we advertised him as a “horse to be chosen for a good friend”. And it was the exact that way, a dear friend of ours bought him. She and her two boys (the smaller son was 9 years old) did everything you could wish for in a family horse: long rides – alone and in large groups, courses and further training with international trainers, children’s riding, hand-horse and skill riding, Icelandic horse certificates, small tournaments, …
Can you describe the character of this horse?
He is “everybody’s darling”, simply a super safe, experienced, uncomplicated horse.
How long have you had Bláskjár?
As already mentioned, Bláskjár never belonged to us. But since he came from Rügen he always lived in our stable.
What is the most memorable moment together?
I think the wonderful first ride on the island of Rügen. Bláskjár immediately convinced me of his qualities. His smooth gaits, how easy he is to ride, his trusting character, his braveness and certainly also his especially pretty appearance fascinated me. This first impression has been confirmed all these years together.
How is Bláskjár as a riding horse?
Bláskjár is easy to ride for everyone and very easy to tölt. He is well trained and goes as much forward as you want. Especially riding outside is great fun for and with him.
You can trust him in every situation. Everything is easy with him. You can take him as a stallion with a child on his back as a hand horse, even if you ride a stallion or a mare yourself.
What is the highest score of the horse?

He was never shown at a WR competition.
What makes this horse so special?
Surely his pedigree. His father Glymur was a great sire and simply died much too early. From him, Bláskjár also has the special look. Therefore, Blákjár is certainly also interesting as a breeding horse. He has 7 offsprings at this moment of time and two of them are a silver dapple as well, but there is also a blue dun and a smokey black amongst his offspring.
And of course, his character makes him so special! And that he is an all-rounder who meets all the requirements of a family horse with excellence.
What is Bláskjár best at?
To give his rider a safe feeling and easygoing joy.
Why is it time for you to part?
Well, we are a sales stable and it is our task to find dream homes for dream horses.
Bláskjár’s owner has clearly developed towards sport in the last few years and has just bought a sport stallion.
Can you sketch the perfect owner for Bláskjár?
A person or family where he is loved and appreciated. In any case, riders who like to ride outside, because he loves that. He can continue to be used as a breeding stallion, or simply be castrated (which can be done in our partner clinic).
